Jana Bennett was named President and General Manager of HISTORY®, an A+E Networks’ brand, in September 2015. Bennett is leading the diversification of the HISTORY portfolio, focusing on premium scripted and factual event programming, limited series and unscripted series. She oversaw the roll out of the network’s biggest program initiative to date, Roots, produced by A+E Studios. The critically acclaimed series reached 53.3 million Total Viewers across all telecasts. HISTORY’s slate includes the scripted series Vikings, and the factual series Alone, Mountain Men, Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour, Pawn Stars, American Pickers, and Forged in Fire, among others. The network has several scripted projects in production and development, including Six, Knightfall and #CARTEL.
In her previous role at FYI and LMN, Bennett oversaw two of the fastest growing networks in the A+E Networks’ portfolio. In its first year on air FYI experienced double-digit ratings growth, led by the introduction of groundbreaking new hit series, including Married at First Sight, Arranged, Tiny House Nation, Tiny House Hunting and Man vs. Child: Chef Showdown.
Bennett also spearheaded the reinvention of the LMN brand, introducing new original unscripted series to the portfolio, including the new hit series Escaping Polygamy, I Love You But I Lied and Monster In My Family. As a result, LMN’s performance rose in every day part versus the previous year among Women 25-54 and claims its youngest median age since 2006.
