As Executive Vice President and General Manager at UP TV, Amy Winter oversees and creatively guides the network’s brand and programming, which includes development and production of movies and scripted and unscripted series as well as scheduling and acquisitions, marketing, public relations, digital and social media.
Since joining the network, Winter has significantly reenergized the UP brand. UP recently unveiled the tagline “We Get Family” and announced a new branding and programming direction that showcases the most genuine and relatable moments and stories about family on television today. UP is seeing a positive response from viewers that includes a record-breaking second quarter with double-digit ratings increases and a dip in the average age by almost 10 years. UP originals and acquisitions include Growing Up McGhee, Small Town, Big Mayor, Bringing Up Bates, Parenthood and America’s Funniest Home Videos among others.
Winter joined UP from Discovery Communications, where she most recently was EVP/General Manager of TLC. Under her leadership, TLC was a top 10 cable network for women, and in 2013, Winter led TLC to a record 32 series averaging one million P2+ viewers or more. She joined Discovery Communications in 2005 as TLC’s Vice President of Creative and led the creative charge for TLC’s award-winning rebrand.
Winter began her career as a freelance promotion producer at TBS in 1994, where she stayed until 2005, becoming Vice President/Creative Director of On-Air Promotion. She led creative direction over all on-air marketing initiatives, played an instrumental role in the network’s “Very Funny” rebranding and created the “Movie and a Makeover” franchise.
Winter is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
